Will foster Any Cup Nesters Fiches, such as Red" siskins? Or yellow siscans? I have been hand Feeding since I was young and now have over 500" birds on the Sticks. Why I am asking is very important. As you know most fiches chickes Rock their Head from side to side with their Head laying Flat" on the Bottom of the Nest. But all the CUP NEST Birds chicks Stick their heads STRAIGHT Up to be fead. Wonderful that you’re teaching bird lovers how best to take care of babies. It’s not my forte but I do love birds but can’t keep them cause I have cats. But any time a person creates content to teach and share information to improve the lives of other living creatures no matter how small, it’s a wonderful thing and makes the world a better place. 🐦 🫶✊💖

I didn't have any problems feeding other youngsters,and nesting other birds, with two males "bengalese",(feedin gouldian finch,longtail finch,star finch,parrot finch..) but there are problems with two females, they don't want to feed youngsters that aren't theirs, and they don't have their own,-- the 2 males feed without problems..sorry,my english is no good..

Only times i picked up baby birds they weren't feathered and their nests had been destroyed, one was a bluejay who's nest got destroyed by a cat (i still see her some times), and a sparrow whos nest was in a tree that fell but unfortunately that one didn't make it

Fine points. It's also worth mentioning that the wild types of all species are also the genetic measuring sticks for all mutations. If they are not maintained, it is very difficult to evaluate new mutations and their basic genetic effects. As someone who has worked in avian genetics for 30+ years, I can tell you that it's very frustrating to sometimes find stocks of wild types that are 100% free of more sought-after mutations. Without them, basic progeny testing of newly discovered modifiers is a royal pain.
